Active roster not empty yet game says there are 0 players on active roster

This seems weird.
I set up a league and removed teams and imported new teams.
But everytime i get ready to run a test season it says there no players on Chicago's active roster. Yet i looked and the whole team has the whole entire 1876 roster on the active roster. I allowed the Ai to make changes to the roster, ran computer manager, released players and scheduled a draft, filled the team with fictional players and it still insists there are no players on the active roster. i even tried moving players to the reserve roster and back to the active roster.

I still have the league file but im wondering if it was just a once in lifetime type of thing.
