Ok, I'll try and keep this quick.
I love this game. This is everything I've ever wanted in a baseball sim game. Only reason why I don't play this all day, every day is because of a few things that may be simple to fix, but I'm sorry, I can't find the answers. These forums are huge and simple searches have led me nowhere. If someone could help me a bit, and not flame me for being a noob, I would appreciate it a ton. a) Sometimes I want to sim a month or more at a time. This is not possible. Simming stops every 1-2 days because of either injuries, complaints from a player, urgent e-mail, etc. I want to be able to either have all of those things handled by themselves or ignore it all, so the times I just want to quickly sim through a half season or so, I can, without CONSTANTLY being stopped. Even maybe not ever being stopped at all. This is a major factor that drives me nuts. b) Is there a way to turn on/off the minor leagues? I know this slows down the sim process by having to do hundreds of games per second and if I'm just doing a simple MLB season, can I shut off the minors so it will just sim majors? Will this have adverse effects in the long term? (can't see prospects develop, etc.) c) Is there an easier way to deal with injuries? (And my god, there seem to be a lot, even when I adjust it to the lowest setting) Every time someone is hurt, I have to adjust each line-up, even if I leave it to the manager, there's like 5 steps to just get back to simming. Any easier ways? d) Finally, the e-mail. God there's tons of e-mail. And I have to sift through it for the 3-4 e-mails that I actually care about, but I get like 20 a day. Any way to filter this? Thanks for your time, I know I may sound annoying/petty, but I just wanted some input, because I know this game is amazing and while sometimes I like the long haul and want to spend hours fiddling around with little things, sometimes I just want to be able to breeze through a season. Cheers, John |

When I want to sim months at a time, I've found that it's best for me to play in commissioner mode (checkbox on the manager options screen). Then I select "Act as: None" in the second box from the right hand side of the top menu of the screen. Once I have done that and have set the manager options that Kelric mentioned, I am able to sim up to a year without being bothered or interrupted at all, except for something like a schedule problem.
When I'm finished with my long-term sims, I "Act as: myTeam" again and micro-manage at will again. I use this method often when I create a solo league and want to build up ten to twenty years of history before diving into the league. Last edited by jmknpk2; 03-09-2010 at 11:00 PM. |

I meant to mention that. Good point.

yeah if your looking to try and focus on MLB i would allow your minor league managers to handle all their lineups as well as promotions/demotions. I also have the simulation stop only for injuries that are 2 weeks or longer (warrants DL).
PS. if your do relinquish some of your minor league control, i would suggest turning down talent randomness as well to 70. It allows me to keep an eye on the top draft picks (i draft first 5 rounds then allow CPU to finish). |

These were all great, helpful responses. Thank you.
Now that I've adjusted my settings, I am simming fast with no interruptions. I've also deleted all minor leagues and am just focusing on the majors. Only problem: Every season after the First-Year Player Draft I have 15 or so guys waiting to be designated for assignment, but since there are no minors I can't do anything but release them all. (Either that or release someone on my 25-man roster to make room, but that wouldn't make much sense) Any options that I am overlooking? |
