Closers becoming Starters

Is there any way to stop closers from becoming starters? It seems like all of the closers and setup pitchers in my game (K-Rod, Street, Papelbon, Hinshaw, Aardsma, Rivera) are becoming SP. I find this very annoying, do I just have to change their ratings.

I've noticed this also. A pitcher who has been a career closer becomes a starter with a stamina of 27 or 23 (not sure exactly as I don't have the game in front of me).

I was looking over my mets pitching staff last night (second season 2010 from quickstart) and noticed that Francisco Rodriguez's suggested role is starter.

Anyone have any ideas as to the stamina cut off point for starters. That sounds a bit fuzzy. What I mean is at what level of stamina does the computer change a solid closers role from closer to stater?

Did they develop a third pitch recently?

The games endurance system was changed but not in to really help out with this problem. I have seen that almost any pitcher with 3 good pitches will start games regardless of there endurance. Endurance in the game only says how long a pitcher will pitch effectivly. So really anyone with 3 good pitches will start. The only way around this is to force there positions. At least for your team you can tell pitchers where they will play. I haven't tried that on a computer controlled team but it's they only workaround I have found.

K-rod has four solid pitches initially.

I know having 3 pitches is a main qualification in the game to be a starter. I have never seen a minimum stamina posted. Do they pitch a reasonable number of pitches when they start?

I thought Markus has said that if a pitcher has a stamina of 60 (on the 1-250 hidden scale) that they could start reasonably effectively. I'm not sure of the number of pitches you could get out of someone at that level though - probably only 90 or so, but I could be wrong.

I know I have seen closers starting games constantly after about 10 years into my league. I'll have closers starting about 50 games, winning 17-20 games and there innings pitch was under 200.

I like how the new endurance worked with saying you need three pitches but now the system needs to be changed so closers don't start games. I have had closers winning the cy young almost non stop after about 10 years. I wish there would just be an option to choose the min setting of endurance for starting pitchers.

In a fictional game this doesn't bother me at all, but in real roster games I could see how this would be annoying.
