Help with Names, please!
Ok, I've had it with the repeat of names. And they're mostly (most of the repeats) are hispanic names.
I think someone mentioned a simple change (changing a number IIRC) that would help, as there would be fewed hispanic names and thus less chance of repeating. If anyone remembers or knows that, please let me know. And at this point I will PAY for a names.txt that doesn't result in repeating names. Or at least makes it so rare that it's not a distraction. Right now, in my test league, I've FOUR JUAN MARTINEZ, three Luis Gonzalez, and I've run accros 9 others with at least two of the same name. All but two of these instances were hispanic. Nothing racist here, I just get confused as hell when I'm reading a news story about Luis Gonzalez throwing a shutout one day and the next day see that Luis Gonzalez hit three home runs. Please, any help. EDIT: And I'm serious about paying for the file or files I need to fix this problem. PM me and we'll work out the details. If Markus has a problem with that (some sort of license violation), then he needs to fix the dam naming convention so we don't end up with so many repeats.

I'm not a programmer, but would it be that hard to do a check of existing names when new ones are created?? Then just add a middle initial? For example, draft day arrives and it wants to name this guy Luis Gonzalez. Checks the current league, finds Luis Gonzalez already exists, so now it wants to name this guy Luis A. Gonzalez. It checks again, finds no match, boom. Then a few drafts later, repeat the process, except when it finds the match the second time (two Luis A. Gonzalez), then it rotates up one and suggests Luis B. Gonzalez. Checks if there are any, and if there are, then check Luis C. Gonzalez, etc. etc. etc. I mean that would be better than nothing, just don't know if it's doable in the program or not.

No need to pay, or re-program anything. If you want NO Hispanic names, go into your names.txt file and delete all of Name Set # 1. If you want fewer Hispanic name repetitions, go into your names.txt file and lower the first number (after the name) to your preference. Note also, the American Name Set (#0) has Hispanic names in it. You may want to adjust them also.
Here's a Hispanic Name Set with all the frequencies adjusted to "1". Don't know if that's what you want, or not, but it will cut down on repetitions. Attachment 182184 Make sure you backup your original names.txt file before making any changes. Peace, albatross11
