Strength up the middle
I started up an MLB league using my custom default roster and expanded baseball by two clubs. The Vancouver Timberjacks and New Orleans Zephyrs join the AL West and Central, respectively. I basically did this to kill some time while waiting for company to come over (they still haven't yet, so you guys get this post). My first pick in the inaugural draft netted me Jon Lester (SP) in the middle of the first round. I then went J.J. Hardy (SS), Josh Beckett (SP), Yadier Molina (C) and Carlos Beltran (CF). I didn't mean to build through the center of the diamond, but I'll take it.

I prefer building up the middle as well, but I wasn't really paying attention this time around. I'd take a few sips of my adult beverage, make a pick, rinse, wash and repeat. I was happy to get the two Sox pitchers, let alone Molina and Beltran. Hardy was the best all around shortstop at the time as Hanley and crew had gone off the board. Tough to turn down Gold Glove caliber defenders with solid bats in their mid-20s. I just didn't expect it.
