Text to mp3 software

What would be the best software to convert text to mp3?
Also how could you get it to ignore unwanted numerical data?
Like instead of the recording saying "158889 July 1st 1941 Joe Dimaggio was traded in exchange for Ted Williams", it would just say "July 1st 1941 Joe Dimaggio was traded in exchange for Ted Williams."
I know it may be a dumb idea but sometimes i have a long bus ride and would like other things to listen too besides just music. I thought it might be a quick way to keep up with my leagues. Or maybe listen to some of the playoff games. Sometimes you notice things that you pass over when you read it and sometimes its vice versa.

One good program is called "TextAloud". It has some very good voices (I found the one called "Paul" to be the best, but of course you may prefer another) and they are teachable. So you can teach it how to read something like numerical dates for example. At least, I think I did that before. Now I'm not sure, since it's been a while since I used it. I know you can teach it pronunciations though.

It's been a while since I researched these programs, so maybe something else is better now. Oh and I used it to do exactly the thing you're talking about, but I don't remember if I really did teach it to say those certain parts correctly or if I made a little program to fix it up first. Sorry, it's been probably two years now and that system isn't set up on my new computer yet.

Now you got me wanting to fire up "Ernie Harwell's Baseball for Windows". Old game, but I love hearing the games announced. I sometimes captured the audio from that game and took it with me while driving (I used to have to drive a lot).
