Adding the DH
When is the best time to add the DH to a league in my set-up? I would think that it would be at the beginning of the offseason, but what are your thoughts on this?

If by beginning of off-season you mean immediately after the playoffs, yeah, I'd think that would be the best time too as it gives the AI as much time as possible to realize that it'll need someone for that role next season.
Whatever you go with, just make sure you backup first just in case something goes wrong.

Immediately after the playoffs is how I did it.

Yes, I did mean on the very first day of the offseason. However, I decided against adding the DH. I only wanted to (selfishly) add it because I had a hot OF prospect in AAA and 3 very good outfielders already established. But my CF took a ratings nosedive and I non-tendered him (only to resign him in the offseason to be a backup).
But thanks guys for the input and I now know for future reference. |

One issue I have seen when adding the DH is that all AI teams immediately go to 11 pitchers and 14 fielders then next day. I really dislike this template style approach. I wish there was some variation between teams carrying 11 pitchers and other teams carrying 12 pitchers and maybe even the rogue teams carrying extremes of 10 and 13 pitchers on ocassion.
Simply put one side effect of the DH in a modern league is the teams automoatically goes from 12 pitchers to 11 and my team which is human managed by me will carry 12 because thats what I like to manage with. |
