Handling World Wars

I did a search but I doubt I had the correct terminology.

How do you handle league stoppages for wars? Is there an option I am missing or does this just not exist for OOTP? Funny, I have been playing this game for so long and never once thought about it until now.

I'd say OOTP11 will be able to simplify this issue.

Reason being, my way of simulating players reporting for war is to retire them, then after the war is over or almost over, unretire them. The problem is it takes forever as you have to retire players one by one. Then you have to go through the retired players and unretire the ones you retire. Mass Select hopefully will fix this.

EDIT: Or you could just delete the schedule and sim from 1915-1918 or 1939-1945 or whatever, and pretend the seasons were cancelled.

I think I am going to test this out. I wonder how it affects the history files for the league/teams/players.

Maybe you could try this:

1. Copy the player data files of the league.

2. Create a new league in your current universe that has same amount of teams. do not allow trading between leagues. Can you turn free agency off? Schedule 1 exhibition game per team per year for X number of years.

3. paste the copied data files over the new league.

4. fill all teams with fictional players in the original league.

5. runsim X amount of years

6. Copy the copied player data file over top of the oginal league.

7. Delete new league.

Not sure if it works but it sounds like it would in theory. I'm not sure if each team has its own player data file or if the lpayer data file is only league-wide.

anyway, just an idea.

What leagues stopped?

Edit maybe I misunderstood.

Any league I want to stop for any war I deem to stop it for. This is OOTP after all.

Thats why i made 2 lists. A retired list and an unretired list. Each season after the awards are given i open the retired list and it has all the players that
should retire because of the war for 1945 and then when i reach jan 1st of 1946 i use the unretire list. That way i dont have to research each year to see who should be still playing. Still wish it was automatic.
