Was I right to do this?
I'm playing a universe in which I create a prospect pitcher and watch all of his games, from the minors to the majors. In one start, the opponents had runners on first and third, one out in the 4th. My guy hadn't let up a run in that 3 1/3 innings, and was at about 55 pitches (105 seems to be his limit). There's a rain delay, for 27 minutes, then my guy allows a 2 run single, followed by 2 walks, leaving the bases loaded with 1 out. I changed myself to allow substitutions so I could take my guy out, having allowed 2 runs and 5 walks through 3 1/3. If you were the manager, would you take him out at that point?

Possibly. The rain delay would have hurt him enough that I'd seriously consider it.

What level? Was this low minors, AAA? Majors?
If this was minors, I'd keep him in there, see what he can do. If we're talking majors, it depends on when in the season you are. Early in the year, I say pull him. Late in the year, force him to get out of the jam on his own. |

I'd say you were probably ok in pulling him.
I'd have pulled him right after the rain delay if you were worried about his health. I'd rather have my SP out there than my bullpen unless they are really lousy. |
