An easy way to improve Player salary demands

I understand that it is well documented that player sal demands are broken. Won't rehash that. A few lines of code could greatly improve this:

Example. Standard game, no mods, patched

I have a 31 yr old CF, good, not great, Its July, he is in last year of deal.
He is making 1.2 mil a year, and wants 6 years 90 million contract, I will not pay that, so I shop him, and no one offers me a thing. I try to trade him manually, and not even a fring prospect is accepted straight up.

If a player was worth 15 mil a year but making 1.2mil he would be in great demand at the trade deadline.

So my solution: Have the game 'shop' players to confirm their value before they accept, reject, or make salary demands, the game can do it automatically, or you could add a confirm value button if you think the player is way off, but I would prefer the game do it automatically.

This CF would see no one wanted him, so would lower his demands. BTW, he ended up signing with another team for 2 years 3.5 per.

I would prob have maxed my offer at 4 years 5 per, put moved on when he refused my offers even though he did not have a higher on e in FA.

At what point in the season did you try to trade him? If he was in the last year of his deal, I can see that no team would trade for him for fear of not being able to resign him. Especially if the other teams calcutated that he would be requesting 15m per year for an extension. Look at the BoSox and Manny Ramirez a couple years ago. Only the Dodgers bit.

I have no idea what the programming logic looks at, but that makes sense to me.

Mid July

Thanks for the reply,

I tried to trade him near the deadline, as a rental player, and was not looking for too much. I figured he could be a versitle player good at all 3 outfield spots and can hit, a team in the hunt would surley need that.

I agree, no one would give me a 3 Stud hall for him (signability), but 2 mid level prospects to rent him would not be out of the question, or even one, but I couldnt even trade him for a rookie ball MR.

With Manny, he was considered a problem player, and had a lot left on contract, my CF was at like 1.5 mil.
