Very good question. I honestly don't know the answer, but will post your question over in the beta forum.

1st, if the player did not make the big leagues, usually the only history will be when he was drafted and maybe some development or injury or release history. If it is not erased when he is.

The game has a built in history editor (goodbye AUHistory), so removing the history is really easy, when you notice it.

Great job with the tutorial.

I have one question, I did this and I don't have a 40 man roster. How do I add this? I know for ootp 6.5 its under game setup but I don't see it for ootp 2007.

Thanks.

NM I found it

I guess I'm slow, where do I find this at?

And much thanks for this, made it so much easier than when I first tried it on my own.

NM, found it also...

are historical leagues (from Lahman) always filled w/ 1 yr contracts? I did a 1992 load, and it appears that every player is a free-agent to be.

Alright, I could research this but I'm lazy and I figure one of you already know it.

When do these key changes start, historically speaking:
Free Agency
Rule V Draft
Amateur Draft
Designated Hitter

I loaded up 1988 and all my contracts are different, some guys are locked up long-term, couple of free agents on my team, but it all seems to be in order.

Free Agency (end of 1975)
Rule V Draft (not sure)
Amateur Draft (1965)
Designated Hitter (1973 AL) Spring Training (1969)

I wasn't going to bother updating from 6.5, but this tutorial and all the positive feedback I've read about historical leagues convinced me I was missing out without a copy of OOTP 2007.

It really is addicting to go back in time. I played 6.5 from the current day onwards, so essentially it was a time machine forward, while 2007 is a great time machine backward. I actually prefer traveling back in time because the players are all "real".

I believe a form of the Rule V draft was first instituted in 1892 but as modeled in OOTP with minors it started in 1970 at the earliest. That said, you could have Rule V active at any time you have affiliated minors (not sure if this works without minors).

Same here - just bought the game and used the tutorial to set up a 1901 lg. Thanks for the time and effort to put this together.

Errors in using historical database

I downloaded the historical database per the instructions in this thread. I tried to set up my first historical league using the rest of the instructions and after doing so got this error:

TEMPLATE_ENGINE::load_template_file - cannot open template file team report page.tpl

I get the same thing for breaking news start, end, box links, and others. There are about 15 error messages in all and then the game crashes.

Please advise...

I did the fix found at http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar.../t-142348.html and it still didn't work.

I saw another post somewhere that the first patch fixes the problem and now I'm back at the "Unable to open the user data folder! Please reinstall Out of the Park Baseball" error I've also had before.

I tried the fix at How to move game data off of a network drive and hat didn't work either. Please help. The game was working fine before the database download.

I'm now past the Unable to open error and back at the templates errors. If it helps someone elp me, I no longer have any of the files in the My Documents folder (they're directly on the C drive) and I don't see any of the templates the game is seeking in the templates folder or anywhere else. A search also failed to find them anywhere on my computer.

Please help!

Fred Lynn - 1974 rookie of the year?

First off - great job on the tutorial, very helpful. One question - I followed the instructions and changed the draft date to 11/1 from 6/15, but Fred Lynn is still showing up on my Red Sox opening day 1974 roster - any thoughts as to how I could fix this?

What database are you using ?

The normal Lahman database has Lynn debuting in 1974, so importing a 1974 or later league will include him. The Gambo database has Lynn debuting in 1973, so importing a 1973 or later league will include him. The Arod/Garlon database has Lynn debuting in 1975, so importing a 1975 or later league will include him

It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you.
