1901 - 2006

I have run a sim from 1901 - 2006 just because I was bored and I knew I could get it done in a few hours.

If anyone wants to know how a player turned out or a team has done, let me know and I will post some of the results.

From what the testers have been saying so far, the historical sim engine seems to reproduce pretty accurate offensive results. My questions regarding defense have generally been ignored, and I find this troublesome. I'd appreciate your general views on your defensive results. Do the correct players (Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, Ozzie Smith, et.,) dominate their era's fielding statistics and with golden gloves?

I've seen some posts indicating a problem with Ruth, that he's hitting 80 hr's and 220 rbi's in the early 20's. What did you get?

I'd be interested in knowing about guys who had shortened careers for one reason or another. Tony Conigliaro, for instance. I haven't run any sims myself but I'm curious as to whether the game just drops him off a cliff or not with recalc due to his real life injuries.

I haven't gotten a detailed look yet but I can tell you that Ozzie never did get a gold glove. But I will look deeper into it tonight.

He never hit 80. The highest he hit in a season was 58 and that was in 1921. In his 20 year career he hit 653.

So I think that is pretty close.

Looks like they kind of drop off. In real life his career pretty much ended in 71 but did try to make a come back in 75. In my league his career ended in 74. But he also had a career with injurys all over the place with the worst being 10 months with a ruptured bicep tendon in 69.

I certainly appreciate it. I've learned that when questions are ignored around here, it's usually because the answers aren't what the folks want to hear.

If I don't have an answer its because it hard to figure out and I will tell you.

I was in no way implying that you personally don't or wouldn't answer questions.

Fibonacci,

There has been a lot of activity around these boards the past couple of days. Please understand that we're trying to help as many people as we can.

A lot of the focus during beta was on getting solid batting and pitching stats. Fielding is not perfected yet. I can't tell you specifically whether it is "good" or "bad" or "just right", but I can tell you that if you have issues with fielding, they will be looked into.

Will

GG's: 0, 0, 3 respectively (1901-2007, Lahman).

I tried doing something similar, but got frustrated when I found that certain players didn't start out on the team they were supposed to start out on. For example, Mickey Mantle came up through the Pirates organization. Babe Ruth began his career as a St. Louis Cardinal.

Is there an option to make it so that by default, each player begins his career with the organization he's supposed to start with?

Yeah. You just have to turn off the draft. Players will import onto their real teams.

It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you.
