Historical relocation

Ok, I began my "career" with the 1994 season and am about to start the 2001 season. Basically, I'm a few years off from the Expos real-life relocation to Washington...but I'm not sure if that seems realistic at all in my league.

The Expos have won 2 World Series championships, with one coming in 94 (Jays again in 95 behind David Cone once again), they currently still have Pedro, Guerrero, Wetteland, and even signed Ken Griffey Jr after the 94 season. Their team interest and market ratings are even some of the highest in the league after 5 post-season appearances in the past 6 years.

My question is this: if I change their team name back to Montreal Expos after the game changes it to Washington Nationals (due to the historical thing), will the team name remain this way for 2006? If so, will that affect whether the rookies of the 2006 season who in real life played for the Nationals franchise, will get the chance to play for the Expos or not?

My plan is to keep this thing going for as long as I can with expansion clubs going to Washington and one other city in the future. Perhaps a team in Calgary or Edmonton. Vancouver or Victoria both seem like better destinations, but with Seattle right there it just doesn't seem like a good idea.

Any input on this situation would be appreciated.

The rookies would be affected as they would import as free agents. The option for what you could do is just tinker with the database. Open the team, franchise , batting, pitching, fielding and fielding of csv files in notepad and replace any reference to the nationals (WSN i think) to the expos.

Yeah, I was going to do that as a sort of "last resort" kinda thing, but it looks like I may have to do this. Thanks for your help!

Abbreviations?

I thought the key linking teams was the abbreviation. So shouldn't you be able to change the name of the team and still keep getting the correct rookies, etc. -- if you are willing to have a Montreal team with the WSN abbreviation in all the charts?

Leave the Historical Team ID abbreviation alone and you can change everything else and it will import correctly.
