Nineteenth Century roster import workaround?

Does anyone have any suggestions for importing UA/PL/AA/NL rosters for individual seasons, 1876 -1900? I am not really interested in "speed-simming" the era, but more in playing out some games in single seasons with historically accurate rosters. It is easy enough to set up, for example, a 12-team NL in 1897, with a "Temple Cup" champ series, but I can't figure out how to import the historical rosters, and am finding it frustrating.

Thank you in advance!

I haven't tried this, but I don't see why it would be any different than importing Federal League players. I would create a fictional league and go to the transactions screen, click on import historical players, and input each player's ID (the URL for that player on baseball-reference.com; I'm assuming it has the pre-1900 guys as well) and the year, and they should be imported as free agents in your league. Then you just edit each player and place them on the team you want them to be on.

In theory, that should work, since I did that with Federal League players. And yes, you have to do this player by player, I don't know of a way to import an entire team.

As fun as I find data-entry to be, I was really hoping to find a way to import the data (from Lahman or otherwise) on at least a team-by-team scale.

I was surprised that one can't import FL teams either, I was under the impression that 20th C teams were easily imported. But of course you are correct, the FL teams do not appear in the League Structure Editor/Import Historical Team menus.

Oh, and thank you

I should add that I didn't mean to sound unappreciative in the previous post -- your advice works great (I have added the Boston Beaneaters already). I was just hoping that there was a faster means of accomplishing this.

Thank you.
