What happens with Bostock, Munson in historical sims?

I'm playing a historical sim with the White Sox beginning in 1977 and traded Chet Lemon (+ others) to Minnesota for Lyman Bostock before Spring Training. What will happen to Bostock in my sim on 9/23/78? Will his simmed career come to an end or will he continue playing? If he continues playing, will his career be extrapolated from his first 4 seasons or will he fall off dramatically?

That's the beauty of OOTP. He may continue and become a stud, he may drop off the face of the earth, or he could be hit by a coyote!

If he continues on, his development will be determined by the game - players won't stop playing when they stopped playing IRL. The game just imports them, sets their ratings and potentials, and then they take on their own lives.

Are you sure about this ? I know that in some settings this would be true; but if he is using recalc ... I was under the impression the players would drop off dramatically if there isn't anything to recalc.

I didn't think about that, to be honest. Searching the boards leads me to believe you're right.

So, cw, if you have recalc on, then Bostock probably will drop off the map.

Still might get hit by a coyote, though.

Eriqjaffe is correct and I can speak from testing experience. I know. I drafted Munson to one of my long-term testing teams. (Plus, I once stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, which makes me even more of an expert. ) Munson continues on as a great catcher using recalc. When recalc finds no data, the player progression, based on his age, kicks in and he continues as a very strong and wonderful catcher.

Excellent, very good to know. Thanks for the confirmation, it was something I've been fuzzy about.

Duffy needs to use this in the OOTP marketing scheme.
