Ty Cobb Hit Hard by Injury
Ty Cobb had 2415 hits and he had just turned 31 and then a fractured knee ends his career.
![]() Anyone else willing to share how Ty Cobb did in their sim.

Ty Cobb had a hall of fame career for me. He is the all-time leader in G(3314), H(4052), and 3Bs(347). Cobb was the MVP 5 times(08-10, 12, 13), and he wom 3 Gold Gloves. He is one of 3 players to ever hit .400 in a season(.405 in 1912). The other players were OF Babe Ruth(.4102) and OF Jack Tobin(.4106).

I was commissioner, so if I wanted to, I could have edited his injury so he could come back but then I would have felt like I cheated when he kept on playing.

My Cobb was also bothered with some injuries, but still put up some great numbers. 4 time batter of the year, 1 time best fielder.

I lost Ty Cobb at 29 years old in 1916, he didn't reach 2000 hits, he was very injury prone but was on the Tigers throughout his career. By the way, it was a fractured knee as well.

I recall a similar thread in the OOTP 2006 forums. Cobb had a shortened career for me about half of the time in that version. I haven't run a historical league with real players yet in the current version to test him out.

Injuries shminjuries
Injuries definitely were not a problem for The Georgia Peach in my sim. As of 1975, he is still the career leader in games, at bats, hits (4497!), singles, doubles, triples, and second in stolen bases (915) and career batting average (.339) including a .400 season. He also collected 8 MVP awards. Overall, probably the most dominant batter to date, give or take Babe Ruth (with 2 .400 seasons).
