Historical Player ID's

Anyone now how I can find out what are the historical player ID's for various players? I might need to import some players individually. I have access to both Gambo 2.0 & Lahman 5.4 as databases.

It is the first 5 letters of the last name followed by first 2 letters of first name, then a number value, example babe ruth, ruthba01.

Thanks. So I'm guessing multiple players with the same name are numbered sequentially 01,02 etc.

Just go to their page on www.baseballreference.com.

Example - Joe Dimaggio: http://www.baseball-reference.com/d/dimagjo01.shtml

His Lahman ID is dimagjo01
