Game doesnt see stats for players before 1876

One thing i noticed that you can import players from 1871 but the game only seems to calculate ratings based on real life stats from 1876 and on. What i mean is that i can import Cap Anson from 1871 but he will suck because the game sees no stats from 1871 but if i import him from 1876 the game will put him as one of the best 3b in the league.
So would it be better to have players from 1871-1875 that played in 1876 to
debut in 1876 thus losing players like Asa Brainard or move every players stats up to 1876?

OOTP only recognizes the league ID"s of NL and AL, so you will get a similar problem if you impot players from the American Association, Union Association, Player's League, and Federal League too. 1871-1875 was the National Association (NA).

The fix is to edit all the files in the DB that use these abbreviations - NA, AA, UA, PL, FL - and change them all to NL. That way OOTp will think they are National League players.

Cool that would be a lot easier.
I think that i might try and use some of your calculations for missing data.
The game does such a great job with the recalc function, im not sure if a career database is needed as much as before but rather just estimating missing data.
I really havent seen the game turn 1 year wonders into superstars.
