Gambo database leads to "retired" players.

I think I've run into a problem when I use the Gambo database in historical leagues. Since the Gambo database "begins" a player's career on the day they were first signed, if you begin your league in 1954, then players who were "signed" prior to 1954 but had not yet made the big leagues are deemed "retired." In this case, Frank Robinson is "retired."

The same sort of problem occurs anytime you try to play during the WWII or Korean War. You can't begin a league during that time without having many, many "retired" players who actually returned after the war.

The war thing is understandable, but the other problem is a bummer. Guess I will start a league with the Lahman database now.

Which version of the Gambo database are you using?

I was using the version that came with his "auto install" package.

I can't find it right now on my computer, I don't know which folder I put it under.

It was the one that you can download along with the "auto install" package.

I've got no clue what version that is. Try posting this in the mod forum or PMing Gambo and seeing what he has to say.

The issue is that there is some copying and pasting which needs to be done in order to get the DB to work like it is designed. If you dont want to deal with the cutting and pasting which is involved there is a companion program by redmark for download which does the necessary steps automatically.
