End of Career

How does the game, with recalc on and using Lahman database, handle players whose careers end prematurely due to either on field injury or off field issues? Do they continue on following a "normal' advance/decline model or does the game somehow adjust their stat?

How will the careers of players like Thurman Munson, J.R. Richard, and Tony Conigliaro be handled?

They will continue on with the in game aging model. Richard and Munson will fare well because their final year was a good season. Conigliaro will be crap because his last season with the Angels was crap before he retired.

That will depend on how many years you have the recalc set for.

Eventually that last bad year will be the only year within the recalc range. Take Congliaro for example, 73 was his last year and it was awful. If you are using the 3 year recalc for example. In 72 it will take 71,72, and 73. By 1974 it will take those lousy 73 stats along with 74 (no stats) and 75 (no stats) to give him lousy ratings and a probable end to his ML career. With a 1 year recalc he is useless in 73 and beyond. With a 5 year recalc he is useless in 75 (using 73,74,75,76, &77 stats) and beyond. Of course it is always possible for him to get game created talent boosts but it will take quite a bit to help him be sucessful again. Now J.R. Richard's last season was with a 1.65 or thereabouts ERA. That season will help keep his ratings high until the final season is no longer invoved in the recalc year range. At that time the in game model takes over but he has high ratings at a relatively young age so he is likely to excel for a few more years.
