Expansion teams
Version 7 of OOTP has made it very easy to take over an expansion team and build it from the ground up with the games automatic expansion feature. I was just curious what teams other players have picked to do this with and what your opening day rosters looked liked for your team.
I just started playing a league in 1977 and took control of the Toronto Blue Jays. I will give you my pitching staff an starting lineup. All players were drafted except for 3 free agents which will be marked. Starting rotation Nolan Ryan - free agent Steve Busby jackie Brown Jim Clancy Steve Renko Bullpen Doc Medich John Lamb Bill Kelso Dennis DeBarr Mike Willis Hal Gilson Starting lineup Tommy Harper CF Bill Russell SS Rod Carew 2B - free agent Al Woods LF Lee May RF - free agent Dave Kingman 1B Rich Chiles DH Larry Parrish 3B John Ellis C Bench Johnny Oates C - trade Tom Ragland 2B Joe Foy 3B Alfredo Griffin SS - Rule 5 draft Shaun Fitzmaurice CF I don't know where I would be without the free agent pick ups. Carew had been a stud hitting over .400 to start the year, May has been in the .270s with good run production, and Ryan has been the ace we needed but with too many walks. I am still early into this first season but my goal was to get to .500 the first year then build off that. Right now we are 14-13 and in 3rd place in the East.

Florida Marlins expansion in 93.
Always wanted to try this...I have recalc on but it seems like cheating knowing who to pick up. May turn it off. There needs to be a lock on that real life stats tab...I can't help but look.. Rotation David Wells * Luis Aquino Chuck Finley * Dennis Rasmussen Scott Kamieniecki Bullpen Bruce Ruffin Jim Corsi Jim Pena Rob Dibble Set Up Roger McDowell Gary Wayne Closer John Candelaria Lineup c- Benito Santiago * 1- Cecil Fielder * 2- Rex Hudler 3- Gary Gaetti * ss- Kevin Stocker lf- Ron Gant * cf- Devon White * rf- Jim Eisenreich *= f/a Lost our first game to the Dodgers, 11-4. I knew I should of picked up Charlie Hough! Wells gave up 4 hrs in 5 inn, Piazza hit 2. Pedro got the win. Last edited by sofla97; 09-23-2007 at 08:33 PM. |

I prefer starting expansion teams after the expansion draft, making me work with the same start that the real team had. If you check out my '62 Mets thread that I made a few posts in in this forum, my second go-round with the Mutts had me trading some of the starting blocks for the real Mets and bringing in better, younger players that the computer was somehow willing to trade. I only used the Shop Player Around function, too.
