Does Historical import include park factors?

I know when I run the historical import from 1901 - 2006 the stadiums names get changed when the did in real life. Do the park factors also change and are they historically correct?

I don't know if the Park Factors are completely correct (they may be, but I haven't looked into it), but they definitely do change as they go along. My guess would be they generally follow basic guidelines: a pitcher's park might be all .970 rather than having fluctuations for left and right handedness, for example.

They are accurate to the degree that they are accurate in Lahman (as with so many things in historical leagues). So if Lahman has it that the park factor is 97, it will be .970 across the board in OOTP because Lahman doesn't differentiate between lefties, righties, homeruns, hits, doubles, and triples.

That's good enough for me. Thanks again!

I was close enough. You just knew more details.

The Lahman park factors are Run Factors...and these factors do not even refer to the park itself, rather it refers to the effect playing half of thegames in that park will have on a player's stats.

OOTP uses this factor as component factors which is completely wrong.

Custom park factors need to be calculated a different way, and I am currently working on a park factor project based on available Run and HR data for parks pre-1960, and using Retrosheet for component park data for ballparks post-1960.

What's the difference?

Well consider a park factor of 90.

1 hit does not = 1 run

So you can't say that the hits factor of a park factor of 90 should be .90. That assumes 10% fewer hits means 10% fewer runs...not to mention you would be applying this to extra base hits too.
