Just another way to play

Been busy working on the Blues site and some other sites, but I found a way to play OOTP while working.

I am lucky and have a 2nd computer that is nice and speedy and I installed OOTP on it. I have 2 monitors in front of me connected to my main computer that I am working on. The 2nd computer has it's own monitor and that monitor is to the left, so basically, I have all three monitors in front of me and the keyboard and mouse to the left of me for the OOTP machine.

At first, I started a historical in 1901 and ran off a few years. I started doing a season at a time and following people's careers. But, I found myself spending too much time clicking and looking, so, I took over the Chicago White Sox. Why them? Good quesion, I am glad I asked myself that. Babe Ruth was on it. The year was 1926. Their team had struggled as of late but was in the top 4 or 5 the past three. They had just signed Babe to a contract and I thought it would be interesting to manage the fat guy.

So, I am letting the computer set the lineup and what I do is click on todays schedule and tell it to manage the game. I then set the 4 options to let the AI do everything and I have it not pause after each play. So, basically, it is like being an owner and sitting in my fancy booth watching the game. I look over on occasion and see how it is going and I sometimes stop what I am doing and watch, like when a no-hitter is happening.

So far, they are 33-40, as they just do not have the pitching that is needed. I am now starting to make some trades, as I just traded a catcher in reserve for Watty Clark. I spot started him and he threw a one-hitter for 5 innings.

The babe is hitting .300 with 19 home runs and of course leads the league in home runs. But his average is way down.

Others on the offense:

Kiki Cuyler: .304
George Kelly: .293
Happy Felsch: .323
Wally Schang: .310

The team makes a lot of errors and need some better starters.

Almost half way through the season now, so they better get something going soon!

It is pretty cool way of playing/watching the game. And it does not interfere (too much) with my work!
