strange releasing players

Started historical league in 1987, and got this early results

Tom Glavine had 18-12 record in 1991 season, then was released 15 april 1992 and sat out whole of 1992.
Historical he had 20-20-22 wins in 91-92-93 so he must been one of the very best. HOW COULD ATLANTA release him ?????????????
Florida picked him up when they joined the league with a payroll 2-year 10 million deal

Mark McGwire was released by Oakland 30 june 1990 with a pay off 1,5 million for 1 year contract.
Dodgers picked him up with a MINOR league contract ?????????
He had 40-23-27 HR the years before, but did drop in 1990 and released with Troy Neel covering 1B for Oakland ?????
1991 and 1992 McGwire picked up the HR rush for Dodgers with 32 and 43.

I have several other IMHO strange deals and releasing top mega players.
Should the settings be setup anything from the standard ????

OK crazy things happens (just see Greg Maddux from Cubs), but it looks odd in my eyes.

What were the players ratings when they were released? Had they taken a drop maybe?

Remember, OOTP has no idea in the world who Tom Glavine or Mark McGwire are, it doesn't recognize names. Just numbers.

Yes, but apparently OOTP doesn't recognize numbers either. If the ratings had dropped off so dramatically, then how in the world did Mark McGwire hit 32 and 43 home runs AFTER being released and picked up by another club?

I can understand the AI devaluing him after a ratings drop, but he would have to have a massive drop to justify an outright release. Clearly he couldn't have had a drop like that and still wind up with 30+ and 40+ home runs. If anything the A's should have traded him.

Clamel, can you post screenshots or data to show what their ratings were before and after their release? What were they like for the few seasons before and after?

I agree, but the reason I ask is because OOTP is notorious for sudden ratings changes and then reversing the changes a short time later. I've seen many cases where a player takes a drop then shortly afterwords gets a boost and vice-versa.

If possible, post a screen shot of their development over that period also.

Charlie, I wish I could have had some proof of what ratings these guys had at those moments. BUT I wasn´t seeing this until later in the season.
This runthrough from 87 was made very hasty, before I really gets going. I played months without looking and I was looking for these crazy stuff. hoping not to find any.

Like you say there might be a reason but I doubt.
The odd thing can of course happend. Craig Biggio torn a ligament in 89 and that ended his career for one.
Glavine might have asked for high salries that made him hard to sign, but McGwire is a bigger mystery. He can´t have had a drop that dramatic.

I will look over these things and other stuff so we going to see.
After all, an AI is an AI and might be even more stupid than a human. Or was it the other way around ;-)
