New Position Skills Go Away?

In playing a historical league, I have noticed that if you spend the time either in spring training or in the minors having a player learn a new position and developing some skill, that it goes away at the end of the year/beginning of the next year.

I have recalc set at 3 years and have allowed development.

Does anyone know how to prevent this "reset" and allow the new position skills to be retained?

You'd have to shut recalc off, I believe.

If I turn recalc off, doesn't that mean that the players will not "develop" as they did in real life but rather as the game develops them?

This means that Steve Garvey will have to either play third for a few years before moving to first or may not turn into the hitter that in actuality he did.

Precisely, but if you want them to learn new positions you will have to let the game handle their development. Makes sense if you think about it.
