House Rules?

I started up a game with the Washington Senators in 1961. My goals is to see how I can fare with the Senators/Rangers as compared to real life. However, with foreknowledge it doesn't seem terribly difficult. So, does anybody play by their own house rules in regards to drafting and acquiring players? I'd love to hear some before I hit my first amateur draft.

I would not trade for Denny McLain

Don't play with recalc on. That'll help with the foreknowledge problem.

Do not allow trading of draft picks or better yet have players assigned to their original teams.

Set trading frequency to low or very low.

By doing these the foreknowledge becomes very frustrating because you know who the good/great players are but you just can't get them.

Also, if you use a shorter period for free agency, even if you do get the great players you probably won't be able to keep them (or very many) with the salary restraints. Also be sure the owner is setting the budget.
