Newbie Question

If I start a historical league, will it load that season's rosters? I'd like to re-do the 2007 Mariners and avoid the Bedard trade, but wasn't sure if it would load the actual 2007 roster or the current roster at the start of the 2007 season.

It loads that season's rosters. If you started in 1967 as the Red Sox, you'd see Yaz and Conigliaro and Lonborg...

Excellent. However, I noticed that the latest Lahman database online only goes through 2006. Does the new game have 2007 loaded into the historical database?

Also, do historical leagues allow for things like expansion, new stadiums, logos, etc? Or are those available as Mods?

I think OOTP9 has the 2007 info included.

On expansion, at setup you can either choose automatic expansion or not. Your option.

The stats for stadiums change as teams move and new stadiums are built. If you want to change the pictures of the stadiums you have to change these manully.

Logos have to be changed manually but I have seen some utilities on the mod boards that say the will update these automatically. I do not really know if or how well they work.

As to the etc,. not sure what else you want. DH will be added appropriately and playoffs expanded as happened IRL.

Thanks for the info. Are the ballpark changes consistent with real life? For example, would the Nationals move into their stadium in 2008 and that new park would have the same dimensions as their real-life new stadium? Or is it all random distribution of what teams get new stadiums, when, and at what dimensions?

I'm just curious of how realistic a simulation I'll get beyond the player stats.

I don't think it would have the 2008 stadium, but it'd have the Cardinals switching parks a few years back. I also don't know about proper dimensions, but dimensions are a cosmetic stat in OOTP that mean nothing. The real important numbers are the park factors. I believe they will be close to the real thing but not 100% correct.

The fence distances will most likely be correct, but they will have no influence on gameplay. They are purely cosmetic.

The park factors do change and they appear to be at least somewhat realistic. Lot higher factors for homeruns in Colorado for example.

I wanted to post about the park factors, but I figured I'd wait until somebody more knowledgeable would post about it first!
