What Does Commish Mode Override with AI?

I've read somewhere that setting the AI sliders in Strategy will over-ride the AI.

I wonder about a few other things.

I run a 1974 league. I use 16 teams from 74 and set all the rosters myself. Then I sim the games, taking care of injuries. In the first year, I didn't trade.

Coming up on 75, I'm considering allowing the AI to trade from Novermber thru the beginning of the season.

So, my question: If I turn over the league to the AI during the off-season and allow the AI to trade, can I control that somewhat? Can I put certain players on No Trade, or On The Block? Or will the AI over-ride that decision?

As a guy who micro-manages entire leagues, I'd like to see a certain option in future games.

It would be nice if the AI controlled teams pop up a box with the proposed trade between AI teams and get the "Commissioner's approval". You could use the option, or not. But that would be a great way to kill less than brilliant trades before they happen.

Well, I'll answer my own question

Before turning the teams to AI, I set certain players from each roster on the Untouchable List.

Then I let the computer AI deal with the teams until spring training. While the amount of trades remained consistent, those on the Untouchable List went...untouched.

None of the 16 teams lost a player on that list.

That only means they didn't trade them. It does not mean that you putting them on untouchable prevented it from happening. When you turn a team over to AI control, it decides wheather or not to trade someone. Could be that the AI teams were content to keep those 16 players.

Hi Bruce.

I agree. I haven't run the test a bunch of times. I did it twice. I really wish I could get an answer on just what Moderator over-rides.

In the meantime, I'll run more tests. But my test involved more than 16 players. Each team had anywhere from 4 to 12 players on the Untouchable List. The average per team was probably around 7. So the test probably involved 110 players, or there abouts.

I have saved my season at the point right after the World Series as a Quick Start File. After loading the quick start the first time, the teams made some less than brilliant trades. So, I reloaded the QS file and put those players on the Untouchable List.

I would likewise believe the AI over-rides any human decision to place a player on the Untouchable List once AI regains control. However, I had read this is not the case with Team Strategies. I don't know if that was true, or not.

Maybe someone in the know will hop in and verify or destroy my theory. I'd sure like to know just how controlling Commish mode can be.
