Players missing from Lehman

I just started a historical league and wanted to follow a team through some years of history. However, when I compare the in-game rosters to a reference book I have, I find that some players were not created in the league. When I go to look for these players to sign them or trade them, they do not exist. These were players, by the way that got at bats or innings pitched.

Can someone explain this to me?

The Lahman Database has some little mistakes that lead to some players missing. I like to start from the very beginning in 1871 and noticed that two of the better pitchers of the era, Candy Cummings and George Bradley, were not imported correctly. I checked the master.csv and noticed that their debut years were incorrect (Mr. Cummings 1871 instead of 1872). The players do not get imported in the proper year because of this mistake and they also don't get imported in the wrong year because there are no stats for the year in the other files.

You may edit the files (master.csv AND historical.odb) but you should better be careful because I had the problem that historical.odb collapsed completely after changing and saving it several times - so it would be a good idea to keep a backup copy of the file first.
