The Big League

So, I was thinking of starting a historical league in the 1890s and then messing around with some alternate history possibilities (for example, the NL not contracting in 1900). Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug that blocks me from starting a historical league during that time period.

If I try to add a historical league from the time when the NL was the only major league, it creates a structure with one single division, 12 team NL sub league, and one 0 division, 0 team AL sub league. Then if you try to actually start the game, it says you can't have sub leagues with different numbers of divisions. Since the game doesn't allow you to edit the league structure of historical leagues at the time of game creation, it pretty much ends right there.

Is there a way around this that doesn't involve creating a fictional league and then importing all the players individually?

Because the answer seems simple to me, I am probably not completely understanding the problem you are having. But I'll give it a shot anyway, if for no other reason, to rule out the obvious:

Try going to Game | Game Setup | League Setup tab | Functions tab, and click on Edit League Structure. From there delete the AL division and the AL subleague. I'd guess you'd need to re-import or re-generate a schedule.

Hope that helps. If not, I'm sure somebody else here will figure it out for ya...
