accuracy of june drafts
is there a way to make the june first year drafts more accurate to real life, like good players not always being in the top of the draft board(piazza is always top2 in 1991, but he was drafted in 1988), any help

Not unless you control all of the teams. The AI is always going to trt to pick the best guy first, as it should. With the understanding that sometimes we still have no idea why the AI picks certain types of players.

While you can't duplicate the drafts, you can set it up to have rookies enter the game with their original teams if you desire. Just make sure the option Automatically Import Historical Rookies is checked, and the Amateur Draft is disabled.

How does that box impact the draft? Does it actually change the player ratings or does it just change how the team's view the players? I want teams drafting based on need if possible although if there is a stud #1 guy then of course they would pick him no matter what.

With that box checked the AI is smarter. It "knows names" which has always been a huge request by the historical community. It knows who will be a superstar and who will be a dud.
With the box unchecked the AI doesn't know nuthin bout nuthin. This only affects the draft. After the draft the AI goes back to its usual state. |

my issue is that guys get drafted in the wrong years and get drafted high(prob due to the fact that they are a "name") i would just like to look at a wiki of 1988 draft and not see guys that were drafted in rl a year before or after that. am i shooting into the dark

Attn: Dark Shooter
The only players in the draft in historical leagues are the players who debuted in the majors that year. None of the other players exist so everyone is drafted high.
You may want to try the Gambo db for OOTPx as I believe it may have corrected debut dates. I have never used any version of this db so I could be wrong. The Spritze db also has partially corrected debut dates. Those are the only two I am aware of that may get you closer to RL debuts and I believe the Gambo is probably closest. |
