Early retirement?
I am running a hybrid league -- fictional setup, fictional players, and importing a few RL HOFers now and then to start from their rookie years and play a career up through MLB. However, I am discovering that usually, the RL import will retire for no reason after playing a half dozen or so years. Without exception, they always have great seasons, progress through HS and lower minors, get into the majors, put up excellent numbers there, then are released right after an all-star season, linger as FAs for a year or two, then retire. (and for those who brag about the merits of fictional play -- I find it happens with fictional players also). There are no career ending injuries. Teams just didnt want them anymore, even though they were very popular players.
Ive tried lowering Talent CHange Randomness (thanks to advise from Curtis) and also lowered aging and development speeds. The result is now it takes them generally longer to get to the majors and thus play fewer years before everyone loses interest. Any work arounds ideas would be great. |

Thats what I thought too, particularly with star players. But I notice it happening to average players also. I had the age limits set for the initial populating of the leagues and forgot to remove it. It was around the time they were retiring. Will see how that goes.
