Sometimes it's too realistic
So I made my "fictional" 1986 league by starting with that year and re-drafting all the historical players into a smaller twenty team major league. Keeps the quality level up a bit.
Even with pretty good players my poor Dodgers have spent the first few years getting repeatedly spanked but I finally started getting strong performance from a core of famous names, including Bo Jackson, the only guy on my team with both power and speed. I get about 3/4 into the 1989 season and Bo Jackson has a career ending injury! First I was , but then I was .Oh, OOTP. Sometimes you're a bit too realistic. |

Poor Bo. I initially hate seeing stuff like that happen, but it is pretty amusing after the first few minutes of grieving.

Too realistic is when Canseco appears a few years later and wins the ROY followed by a few years in the 40-40 club. If he eventually loses his mind after a short FA stint in Baltimore and threatens to write a tell-all book about 'roids in baseball.... yeah, that would be too realistic.
It would be awesome, though! |
