Which Historical Database Should I Use?

To answer a few of the questions...

1) With my database if your using the amateur draft instead of sending them to their actual teams then I would do the draft after the world series. If you do the draft before the end of the season then you will see players import a year early. E.g. Don Mattingly will import in 1978 instead of 1979

2) The ratings for Negro Leaguers will be a little lower than they are in Spritzes. The reason for this is I had been the same system as Spritze/Garlon in associating them with Major Leaguers however, most of the guys they are compared to are Hall of Famers. Most people compare the level of play of the Negro Leagues to being a high AAA at it's best level so I adjusted the stats to a mix between AAA and ML level. It causes lower rating but many of the Negro Leaguers will still be potential all-stars and possibly hall of famers at the Major League level.

3) Spritze's database does have alot more players. My database with more players may be a nightmare for importing histories if it held more. I do have a work around for the import issues in a previous post.

If you're sending them to their historical teams, then when should the 'draft' take place? (Note that the game still calls for a draft when using the 'assign historical' option. I assume that becomes the date the rookies are assigned.)

The Garlon system of associating Negro League players with major league counterparts leaves much to be desired and I don't use it in the Spritze db.

With the draft turned off they are assigned in February of their debut year.

Affiliated means the team WAS part of a major league teams minor league system.

Organized baseball were teams that adherred to the National Association of Minor League Baseballs charter.

So therefor Unorganized baseball consisted of those leagues that did not so adhere like the Negro, Mexican, Cuban, Venezulalan, Puerto Rican, Japanese, Canadian and many, many, many, many other leagues.

That is the default so one might assume so since there is no way I know of to change the assignation date when automatically putting players directly into the game onto their historical team.

But you never know you know, and not knowing is half the battle.
