Need some help with ALL TIME historical league

This may not be the right place to post this, but is there a quick way (or any way) to import all players into a league that would have them all debut as rookies in the same year.

In essence what I am trying to do is create a league that both modern players and Hall of Famers can play in at the same time.

Say, start in 1980 with the players of that era, plus ALL of the Hall of Fame players from earlier era's. Ruth, Aaron, Mays, etc would debut as rookies in the inaugural draft.

No, there is not an easy way to do this to my knowledge. I think you would have to import each player one-by-one. On top of that, you would have to know each player's rookie year.

That's what I am afraid of, but I am going to tweek the DB I use and make all the HOF players have the same debut year and birth year and see if that accomplishes what I am after

Interesting. Changing the dbase might accomplish what you are after. Of course, it might end up being more work than importing 100 players one-by-one

Let us know how it turns out, if only for the sake of science (or OOTP).

You should be able to just mass edit the debut year in the database, and then import it.

That was my thinking, just a mass edit on the debut year of the HOF players.

I think I may need to also edit the birth year also otherwise Babe Ruth might import at 75 years old!

Because everyone knows all other attempts at baseball simulation are mere quackery.

It is. I tried it.

Take the time to import the guys you want. Messing with the database is not the way to go in my experience.

Modifying the database can be done. Just carefully. I do it all the time. An excellent working knowledge of Excel is all that is needed.

Modifying the debut year will not work. You have to modify the batting, pitching fielding and fieldingOF tables as well as the *2tables as well.

I'm curious. Why does merely changing the debut year NOT get the players imported? What needs to be changed in all those other fields and why?

I think the import actually starts with batting not master file in doing the search.(That's a guess on my part). I always change the batting, pitching, fielding, fieldingOF and the *2 files). I use the debut year to create a modifier and then modify the year in all the files above.
