BZ 3198: 60 Day DL to minors

When I have a guy eligible to finish up his injury time on the 60 day, I have to place him back on the active roster before sending him to the minors. Even after putting him back on the 40 man roster, I am still forced to place him on the active roster before demoting him to AAA. Not sure if someone already raised this issue. Thanks.

Did the guy start out in the majors when he was placed on the DL?

Yeah started in ML then onto 60 day DL. I don't believe there's a way to get him onto the 60 day otherwise.

Well, I know the reason for this and it is that the game wants to perform its option year and player right of refusal checks when demoting from the active roster and doesn't want to create an exploit by bypassing them.

I understand the reasons, but in my case this and one of the other new features caused me this problem and it may be that this is exactly as it should have been. I had a player on the 40 man roster that was called up for spring training by the AI (new feature bringing all 40 man roster people up) who got hurt. When ST was over I had to place him on the ML DL to get him off the active roster instead of being able to return him to the minors and then have him go on the minor league DL. When he was elgible to come off the DL I could do nothing with him without demoting someone from the active roster (and burning an option year), activating the player, then demoting him and recall the player I had just demoted. There has to be a better way than having to go through all of this.

I hear you. Did you actually burn an option year, however? I believe that a player doesn't use up an option year unless they spend a full day in the minors.

To be honest I am not sure if it actually burned a year or not, I just assumed it did. Even if it didn't there has to be an easier way to accoplish this task.
