BZ 3260: AI releases draftees even though roster space available

In February after I got a notice that a player was ready to come off the disabled list, I clicked on "Ask AI to complete Organization, Lineups, etc.." and all the players I drafted the previous year were released. Fortunately, I was able to undo the problem with an Alt-Ctrl-Del which brought me back to the previous save. I made a copy of the league to see if the same would happen again and it did.

My manager options doesn't allow the AI to release players and I wasn't on vacation

You didn't have the AI option checked, and you weren't on vacation, but you clicked the option allowing the AI to do all that for one time. Clicking the option overrides the auto-sim settings. I had a similar grief with this same thing. I set up my lineups perfectly how I wanted them, simmed one day and got a response from my waiver wire pick. I didn't want to deal with the assignment, so I clicked the same option you did. And poof, all my lineups were changed to the AI choices... This option really says "I don't want to play, let the AI undo all my changes". You have to do the mundane DFA & Waiver Wire management by hand.

Thanks for the reply Horks. DFA and waiver wire aren't issues with me because both options are disabled. I understand my lineups would be changed but I didn't care because it was still offseason.

Just an additional note to my original post. I had plenty of open roster spots with my minor league teams so that wasn't an excuse to release the players.

Gorinski,

Thanks for your post, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I think you've pretty much realized that that AI option basically gives the AI the option to do whatever it wants, so in terms of that aspect, it seems to be working as expected.

However, from what you've described, it deserves to be looked at anyway, to see why those players got dumped.

I logged this as bug 3260, we'll ask Markus to take a look!

Markus has indicated that this issue should be resolved in the first patch...

Thanks!
