BZ 3445: OOTP crashes when accessing Available Personnel
Hello all,
I am using the major league rosters that came with the game (no customizations, etc) and have run into a problem withh OOTP X crashing to the desktop in Windows Vista. I played through a full season, and am now in the November time frame in the game. I can continue to make trades and free agent offers, but as soon as I select "Available Personnel" from the MLB menu, or choose to search for staff from the manager menu, the game throws an exception with the following errors in the Application Log: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 6/9/2009 6:34:40 PM Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: XXXXXX Description: Faulting application ootp10.exe, version 2.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4a2554c8, faulting module ootp10.exe, version 2.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4a2554c8, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x003d94fa, process id 0x1848, application start time 0x01c9e967ff9a6c22. Does this happen every time you try to play a season like this? If this is the case, could you save your game just before you click Available Personnel and then zip up the .dat files from your game and FTP them to us as per the instructions in the How To FTP Your Files To Us thread?

Sorry it's taken a while to address this issue.
Is this still a problem for any of you in the latest patch, 10.2.16?

Available Personnel in Solo
Whenever I click on Available Personnel, my game crashes. I'm not sure if this is a logged issue or not, but it's very frustrating. This is happening on the most recent patch.

Game Cracshes Accessing Available Personnel
I just simulated through 2009 and expanded my league with two teams. When accessing the available personnel, my game crashes. It looks like the same problem detailed in this thread. I can access any other screen, but I just have problems when trying to look at available scouts/coaches.
My OOTP is totally up to date and I am running on Vista. Any help would be appreciated. I just bought the game last week and I haven't had this problem in previous leagues I've started. I've tried to load the screen both before and after the expansion draft, and nothing works. |

I am having the exact same issue with Vista.....though I'm not trying to expand the league or anything like that. I also have the latest patch for OOTP. Any suggestions would be great.

Hi folks,
We're seeing multiple reports of this problem, so I'm reopening this thread, and merging it with a few others. I have logged this issue as bug 3445, and Markus will look at this with high priority. Meanwhile, if we can all try to narrow down this issue further, it would be great. I'd love for people to answer these questions: 1. Is there anyone getting this error who is NOT running Vista? 2. Could someone upload a set of league files that experience this error, using these instructions? 3. Has anyone tried tackling Dan Theman's excellent post about Vista as a way to potentially resolve this? Thanks very much, I hope we can get this resolved! Steve

I have just encountered this bug as well. It is specific to one game file. Others still access available personnel. Additionally, it only started happening as of my 7th season in 2016, in the offseason. I am running Vista 64-bit.
Version: 10.2.16 PC/MAC: PC What were you doing? I was trying to access the "Available Personnel" tab from the transaction page. I also attempted to use the staff search. Both produced the same result. What happened? The game crashed to the desktop without an error message. Reproducible? Yes Problem occurs with other leagues? Yes, not with other saved teams/games however. |

Sure thing. I uploaded a zip to the FTP. The file name is "Morph - Available Personnel Bug Save Game (Retry).zip" with the retry being because I quit the first upload chance but couldn't overwrite the original files. Ignore the first one, it is an incomplete set of files.
Hope it helps. |

Yeah, I tried as well on my Mac and XP machine. The solution is uninstall Vista and burn your Vista CDs.
![]() No, seriously, we'll try to keep figuring this out. Really, if someone can try the steps in Dan Theman's post, that's probably the next best step. The fact that the same league file works for some people, and not others, points to some sort of conflict going on your machine, so we really need to focus on that. I heard from someone else recently running Vista, who said that specifically excluding the OOTP directory from his antivirus program made the game go from constant crashing to no crashing. It certainly wouldn't hurt to try that. Thanks, all! Steve
