BZ 3330: Pinch hitters striking out too often in Major League games
Guys, first off I apologize if this is the wrong place. But the amount that pinch hitters strike out in this game, well, is something wrong. I think there has to be some kind of setting that makes pinch hitters way too likely to strike out. They don't even put the ball in play as needed, and in a non-dh league, its huge knowing your .125 pitcher has a better chance of making contact than your .333 guy off the bench.
Refer to this thread with 2 years worth of data showing how often strikeouts occur in pinch hit situations Do pinch hitters K a lot? |

Well whatever I did, the guy in the thread I linked to has the same problem.
Heres exactly what I did. I clicked quick start, selected my managerial option to coach Atlanta, pooled the players under league options for the draft, conducted the draft, and have played each game as a manager on 1 pitch mode. Thats it. I haven't played with any settings. |

I also was having issues, playing with the default settings with the regular roster set. I was playing as the Milwaukee Brewers NL, almost everytime a pinch hitter came in for my pitcher he would strike out.
If someone tells me how to upload an image I will show my season stats (only thru 20 some games). Some hitters are a perfect 14-14 (AB-K) while another is (17-21). I actually started over, turned on DH, and so far my pinch hitters are doing better. So, I would ask anyone that is not seeing this issue, check a league with no DH. |

I have noticed the quick start gives way too many home runs in the minor leagues, and I beleave that one is already logged, but I wonder if the strike outs for pinch hitting is only with the quick start.
I know with the home runs, though, I tested fictional and historical with good results, so would guess this could be quick start only as well for this one too. |

Thanks for your post, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The first few weeks after the release are always pretty busy around here!
Well, it certainly sounds like something is suspicious there. I've logged this as BZ 3330, and we'll see if Markus can take a look at it. Thanks, Steve |

I posted this as a reply in the general forum as well, but I've also come across weirdness with horrible stats for pinch hitters (both in game and simmed for human and AI teams). Here are my league hitting stats with a filter for pinch hitting and sorted by pinch hit at bats. Note, that I did not use the quickstart option and have MLB rosters with default settings.
