Bz 3382: Runner fails to score on ground ball with bases loaded

I had a situtation where the bases were loaded and the following happened - - - - - -

There's a ground ball...
to the left side, on the line...
"third baseman" over, reels it in...
he steps on the base for the first out...
he throws it to first...
and he's safe!
"runner on first" goes to second

The put out at third was the second out of the inning but the runner that was on third, did not score??? The bases were loaded and he had to run.

After the play, it shows that he is still at third.

So, you are saying that after the play, the bases were still loaded but the guy who had been at second was no longer among them? If so, that's a hard one to diagnose. Could have been a bug of some sort, but a pretty rare one if so.

You are correct.

At both the beginning and end of the play the bases were loaded.

The runner that had been on third was still on third, the runner that was on second is gone, the runner that was on first ended up and second and the batter was at first. No one scored.

The only thing I can think of than would remotely cause this IRL would be if the runner on third thought the ball was going to be caught in the error so returned to third base. However, I think if this was the case the infield fly rule would have been called.

I think this is definitely a bug.

Beachbum,

Do you have a game log that can be sent to Markus?

BeachBum,

I logged this as BZ 3382. I'll try to have Markus take a look at this issue.

Thanks very much,

Steve

If you open the game log using the "External Browser" option, the address bar of your browser should tell you exactly what the file is called, and where it is on your PC.

You can just e-mail that file to me at steve.battisti (at) ootpdevelopment (dot) com.

If you could, please include a link to this thread in your e-mail, so I can remember which of the million threads I look at it belonged to!

Thanks,

Steve
