BZ 2986: No earned runs charged--still a problem

I'm using the most updated patch (just patched it a couple hours ago) and I saw this. Don't know why this in an unearned run. I saw this in the 1st game of my season but didn't think much about it - but it happened again:

I dunno. I can only think that there is a bug having to do with the cutoff throw. Was the other instance also having to do with a throw? If so, can you post the game log for the other play as well?

Looks like when a guy gets thrown out for the third out for some reason it's recording the run unearned.

OK, good to know it is consistent.

After searching through Bugzilla, this was noted in beta too as BZ 2986, but there wasn't time to fix it before release. I'll reopen it and hopefully we'll get it in the final patch.

I can confirm this. I had bases loaded and a base hit. One runner scored and the second was cut down at the plate for the 3rd out. The run that scored was unearned and there were no errors in the game.

I posted this bug early on. It was moved to the claimed fixed forum but it is still occurring. I've got an example I tried to download but it was too big. Is there any way to email to screen shots to an admin?



Here's how the problem manifests:

Batter singled. Went to second on a ground out. Was still there with two out. Next batter singled. Runner on second scored. Batter thrown out at second on a cut-off. Pitcher charged with run but not an earned run.

Have seen this twice. Both times the run scored just prior to the batter being thrown out at second for the third out. No errors or other weirdness occurred in the inning. The run was just incorrectly counted as unearned.

I just got this twice post-patch. I put in a reliever, and the first batter he faces hits a HR. It's charged as a run, but not an ER.

It seems, for me, it only occurs right after putting in a reliever.

There is an open bug report for this already. Hopefully Markus will get to it in a later patch. He's had bigger fish to fry so far.

I'm afraid that this particular bug is listed in the "claimed to be fixed" section of the forum. Not sure that Markus is aware that it is still a problem.

Toadfreak's bug is different than the one I'm talking about. His has to do with relievers(which I believe the patch addressed but which apparently still occur ). Mine has nothing whatsoever to do with relievers. It has to do with that fact that runs scoring ahead of a runner who is thrown out trying to advance a base are not being counted as earned runs--even when no errors had occurred in the inning to account for any of the runners. Apparently there were numerous instances of earned runs not being tallied correctly with ootpx. I think it would be wise to keep the different varieties of these bugs listed in separate threads for clarity's sake.

This bug was discovered in beta, but Markus didn't have time to fix it before release and marked it for fixing later. I reopened it here for him to address. I imagine he'll get to it after he takes care of the more critical issues like crashes and licensing problems. Thanks for your persistence to make sure it gets fixed.
