BZ 3469: Almanac generated without index.html

Windows XP, OOTP version 10.2.16:

Possibly due to some error I made in setting up the Almanac (I need to do further testing), I was unable to open the Almanac for a particular season due to the following error: "UPPER_AREA_PAGE::handle - unable to open almanac. Could not find file index.html."

The popup has an OK button and a Help button. If you click the Help button, a File Not Found page comes up on the "Out of the Park Baseball In-game Help" popup, stating "This help page is not available." and the program freezes. Clicking "OK" at the bottom is ignored, as is the X in the upper right of the program window.

I can then only close the program from the Windows Task Manager.

I have followed this process twice and had the exact same result both times. If you need screenshots, etc. let me know.

Hi there!

Thanks for your post, and very sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I'm not sure how you pulled it off, and if you figure that out, let us know, but I have logged this as issue 3469, because the almanac shouldn't ever generate without the index.html.

Thanks,

Steve

I think I know how I did this. I didn't exactly understand how the almanac settings work (I'm not exactly 100% sure now, either), so I went into "Select Reports" and identified the few reports I was interested in, I believe they were league leaders reports. Then, thinking that since I selected the reports individually I didn't need to check any of the complete sets of reports, I unchecked all of the checkmarks for each league and each set of reports on the "Create Almanac Reports - Settings" window. Then I checked "Archive HTML reports annually".

The program created an almanac folder, with the specific data I requested in the "Select Reports" list, but with no index.html.

I just tested this again, and again it did not create an index.html. In this case I unchecked all of the leagues under all the headings (team, players, etc.), then I selected specifically the "League_top_prospects" report, told the program to create the almanac now, and the same thing happened:the alamanac was created, it's in the list of almanacs I can open, but I can't open it in-game. The one report I requested is in the subfolders if I go to the "almanac_2009" folder itself on my hard drive, but no index.html is there so I can't access it through the game.

I think the manual could use some additional information on the interaction between the league/heading settings and the individual reports settings. I just tested another combination: I started by loading the "complete almanac" profile, to clear out anything wacky I did. Then I unchecked every league and type of report except Major League and International League under "Team" reports. I didn't go into the "Select Reports" at all. I told hte program to create an almanac, and it's taking forever, telling me that it is working on 157 reports and I'm seeing all of the minor leagues I didn't select. So I'm totally lost as to how this thing works.
