How Much Would You Pay..?
Not that I'm interested in doing this, but the question came to me one night and I just remembered it..
If we actually sold the teams we manage in online leagues to others whom wanted them, how much do you think they might actually go for? Sure, it may be a silly question and maybe the answer would only be a joke amount like 2 cents, but think of the most desirable league to you, the most desirable team, in the most desirable position, how much would you bid? How much do you think the highest bid would be? I hope I don't peeve any leagues off by creating a wave of team buying and selling by asking this.. ![]() Personally, I have no idea and I don't think I'd a cent. I think teams only really become valuable to me once I invest my tender loving care into them and I get attached to the players and logo and fellow managers. That said, I think I have an idea how popular some teams in some leagues can be for some people so I wouldn't be too surprised if someone would pay for say their favourite real life team in the latest and greatest modern league. But how much, I couldn't say.

You know, I think some of the same principles apply from the real world here. If I were out looking to BUY a franchise in an existing online league, the following would apply...
1. How established is the league and does the league have GM's/owners with longevity in the league 2. How much history does the league have 3. To what degree has the team I'm considering established a tradition of winning, losing or mediocrity Now, contrary to real life thinking, OOTP GM's/owners don't assume any monetary risk, even if they pay to own a team. So you would see many buyers prefer teams that lose or are mediocre, simply for the chance of turning it all around. In real life the established teams with winning traditions would be much more valuable because the monetary risk vs. gain is extremely positive, but I wonder really if there'd be much demand for them in the OOTP online realm, thus the price one would pay likely wouldn't be much. That said, I would pay more for a new team in a new league with no history, for the chance to build that history myself. If the average cost of a team in that league were $10, I would pay $20. If the league had a lot of history with an established commissioner and longtime league members, with the average value of teams of $10, I'd pay $15 to for a mediocre team, $20 for a losing team and $10 for a winning team. I personally prefer challenge. That would be a rough idea of my values of franchises in online leagues.

Not one red cent - this is a game and a part time hobby only. I see no return value at all in having to shell out real $$$ just to own a team in an online league. The only return I'd get is exactly the same as I get now in free leagues - The enjoyment of playing and managing and molding a team to the way I think it should be.

I actully asked the comisioners in my league if there were dues or anything to be in the league. Gratefully they didn't fleece me too bad.
![]() Before I joined I didn't know about server space cost or any other possible costs incured by the "owners". I would have gladly payed a $10 or $20 dollar admission charge as long as I believed it was genuinlet going where it was needed.

If there was a league I really liked, and wanted to be in, and there was one special team that particularly appealed to me for whatever reason, I'd pay, to take over the team right away. Maybe $30-40, depending on the circumstances.
