How he throws 100mph and didn't have a fastball baffles me, though. ROIDS!!
I think it also depends on what the player development settings are at...On default, you probably don't see such a meteoric rise, but if the league has the settings on quick development, then its certainly possible.

Player Report for #9 Ben Roethlisberger

He started out without a fastball and also was a 10-9-8 I believe at first. Strasburg went 1, Ackley 2, and a CF named Brimble who looks like a true 5 tool stud went 3rd. At 5th I picked a guy who looks like Rickey Henderson 2.0 minus the power who has now been traded as part of a package for Kuo and Ervin Santana. Just figured I'd post this since our whole league is in shock.

I'd like to see his development report on a weekly (or even monthly) basis. I don't buy it.

It all depends on the player development ratings. The guy I drafted in the USBA went from 5/6/4 before the season to 10/9/7 by September (this was before I became the commish for those of you who would doubt ).

And it's all relative when it comes to ratings anyway. In one league a 8/8/8 guy could be an ace, while in another league he'd be just a mid-rotation guy.

Though I've never really had the best SP in a league, I have had quite a few very, very good ones in the USBA but had to trade them away because we were small market at the time. Of the guys I once had in my rotation, but had to trade, they have accumulated a total of 837 wins, 16 All-Star appearances, and 4 Pitcher of the Year awards. None of those PotY awards came while they were with me, and only 5 of the All-Star appearances

Using the 10 point scale, I've never seen ratings jump by more than 2 points in OOTP X. Player development is pretty realistic.

Now, if you go into the Player Editor and change a pitch with all 0's to 160 (which I believe is the equivalent of an 8), the Stuff rating will indeed skyrocket.

This is why I don't join leagues where the commish owns a team. I run an FPS league and I don't own a team. If I did I'd be honest in terms of cheating but I've learned in my 7 yrs of commish'ing that a Commish knows more than the owners, which puts the owners at a disadvantage even if they don't edit ratings.

Why would you say that? Roeth was originally a 9-8-8 guy I believe and he was the 3rd pick in the draft. We have another player by the name of Eduardo
Corona who had a similar beginning and is now a 10-8-7 potential on a different team. It really depends on the development of the 3rd pitch.

I know there were a lot of early GM's that pretty much wrecked their teams and left. Red Sox, Yankees, and a few other GM's are the most notable as and a result, the Pirates, Rays, Orioles, and a few other non-traditional powers have taken advantage.

This guy won over 500 games, 13 pitcher of the year awards (now named after him), and 19 all star games.

CBL online league uses OOTP5 - league started in real time 2000...been around 10 real years.
