College Style League?

Has anyone ever tried this before? Not sure if it would even work just because of the sheer number of teams involved. I'm sure most people wouldn't enjoy the four year limit and no trading so obviously that wouldn't be involved. But the main thing I was wondering was conferences, then conference tournaments then some sort of March Madness thing to end the season. Anything like this done before?

Sure there was a college league mentioned years back but not sure if it got off the ground or not, just my 2 cents but if someone did a college league maybe it would work better if it actually fed a major league. This way players just wouldn't vanish into thin air, maybe you could have a major league and the GM's of the teams also run one or two college teams so they would still be able to trade and such.

You could actually use the college leagues as a waiting list for the majors, even have a high school system thrown in. With no trading in the high school or college leagues you could afford for teams to be AI controlled.

I didn't really mean college rules and everything. The only college parts I was thinking was conferences and league tournaments. No one would be interested if there was no trading and players left after four years. It would be a regular league but have conferences where teams mostly play teams within their conference and then end with league tournaments.
