Here's an example of something a lot of the GUBA owners have been seeing regarding pitch ratings. It seems to not separate Rating from Talent - they move in tandem without the Talent actually changing.

Roberto Martínez: Changeup Rating Increases from 4 to 5
Roberto Martínez: Changeup Talent Increases from 4 to 5

Only his rating has moved from 4 to 5 - not his talent. His talent is a 3.

You are using 3.1.0 of my utilities. 3.1.1 is when I fixed it to handle the individual pitch ratings/talents properly. Check my post on 08-16-2009 on how to properly install it to not cause some erroneous development reports.

Can you reverse sort by name? If not that, just upload a blank prevRatings.txt and overwrite it. A blank one should do the trick fine.

I just updated the utilities for our league and since All-Star voting has become active I went and enabled the All-Star voting utility and I've noticed one odd thing...

The utility is listing some people who are clearly SPs in the reliever list. Guys who have only started games (not a single game in relief) are being listed presumably based on the fact that they have passed the reliever IP threshold. I have double-checked and these guys *are* listed as SPs in game (so it's not like someone has their position set to MR). Is there any way I can change this so that it will only pull players who have pitched in relief for the reliever list?

Check your settings in the admin panel for "Minimum Games Started for Starting Pitchers" and "Minimum Innings Pitched for Starting Pitchers". If they do not meet both criteria, they will be listed as a reliever. Sounds like you set one of those values too high.

The three specific examples I saw at first glance are one guy who got called up from AAA a month and a half into the season and two guys who injured so they haven't played that many games. For reference:

Tenzig Cubitt (callup)
Manuel Leyva (injury)
Louie Pulaski (2 injuries!)

Does this mean that I should set the starting pitcher settings very low to be able to catch guys with injuries or callups? What if we don't want those guys to be listed?

OOTPOU does not show every possible pitcher that meets the criteria in the admin screen. It only takes the top 10 in ERA, top 8 in wins, etc (I forget the exact numbers). The parameters you see in the admin screen are just responsible for determining where the pitcher (or DH) is listed.

The only time the parameters would completely exclude a player is if they did not meet the minimum innings pitched for both starters and relievers.

Feel free to play around with the parameters until you get the ballots the way you want, then reset the votes.

Getch, a question:

Does the HOF utility know who is currently in your HOF? (I'm asking this not knowing if the CSVs have this data).

How would the players voted in during ballot year 2009 not appear on the 2010 ballot?

The csv files have a column for players in the HoF. So, if a player is in the HoF in-game, I'll know it and he won't appear on the ballot any more.

I was using the HOF Voting, and it sorts the numbers as strings. So 10 comes after 2.

I changed:
Code:
    foreach $vote (sort {$votes{$b} cmp $votes{$a}} keys %votes) {
To:
Code:
    foreach $vote (sort {($votes{$b}/$votesCast) cmp ($votes{$a}/$votesCast)} keys %votes) {
And that sorts it properly.

After we upgraded, we suddenly have a problem with extended characters.

Juan Iñiguez now shows up as Juan Iñiguez on all the OOTPOU pages. Any ideas on what we can do?

The number sorting thing was fixed a while back. Make sure you have the latest version.

As for the character issue, yeah. It's known. Markus changed the encoding on the csv files. I bugged him about it but haven't heard back.
