OOTPOU (Online Utilities, for those new here) version 3.1 for OOTP X is released. Get the full utilities and patch here:

The utilities contain (** = new in the OOTP X release):

1. All Star Voting Utility
2. End of Season Awards Utility (** NEW)

If you are upgrading from OOTP 9, just take the Patch zip and unzip in the cgi-bin directory. A few notes:

1. A reminder that pitchers marked as a reliever get a stuff "bonus" over their internal talent/rating. The development tracker ignores this bonus (since it is really not development). So, if you see discrepancies between stuff in-game and development, it is most likely because the pitcher is set as a reliever.

2. The first time you run development after upgrading from OOTP 9, there will be no development displayed, due to changes between OOTP 9/X.

During gaps in my recent sojourn I've been looking at this (I know the EULA says no reverse engineering!!)

I've done a couple of pitches so far and the formulas look reasonably accurate

FASTBALL

A : ((Velocity on the 1-20 scale) - 1) * 6
B : (Internal Fastball Rating) / 2.5

Fastball Rating : A + B + 8 (on the 1-200 scale)

SINKER

A : ((Velocity on the 1-20 scale) - 1 ) * 3
B : Groundball% * 0.6
C : (Internal Movement Rating) / 6
D : (Internal Sinker Rating) * 0.3

Sinker Rating : A + B + C + D + 1

I've done 10 of the 12 pitches now.

Variables are defined

IR : Internal Rating for pitch
GB : Groundball %
M : Movement Rating
V : Velocity (1-20)

All the following give a value on the 1-200 scale (obviously it can go over 200, so these would be > MAX on chosen scale)

Fastball : (V*6)+(IR*0.4)+1
Sinker : (V*3)+(IR*0.3)+(GB*0.6)+(M/6)-(13/6) subject to a minimum of 6
Knuckleball : IR + 1
Knucklecurve : (IR*0.8)+(V*2)+1.6
Screwball : (IR*0.8)+(V*2)+1.6
Circle Change : IR + 1
Forkball : (V*4)+(IR*0.4)+(GB*0.3)+(M/12)-0.3 subject to a minimum of 6
Splitter : (V*4)+(IR*0.4)+(GB*0.3)+(M/12)-0.3 subject to a minimum of 6
Changeup : IR + 1
Cutter : (V*4)+(IR*0.4)+(GB*0.3)+(M/12)-0.3 subject to a minimum of 6

has anyone had a problem with the draft utility using OOTP X? I've used it 3 previous seasons on 9 and there weren't any snafu's but this year on 10 the utility is displaying hundreds of players who aren't in the actual draft in-game. Any thoughts?

One of my leagues went thru the draft no problem. Are you using a feeder league?

Yes. We have two HS's and one college. There are crazy issues with player names too - you should check it out. Seems to be a big problem with the latin names.

The Latin name thing seems to be a OOTP bug on certain OS's (it generates the CSV files with the funky characters). What OS are you using? It'd be nice to get this fixed in the next patch.

As for the draft, I just checked my other league which uses feeder leagues, and it looks spot on. Can you check that you put the proper age limits in the admin set up screen? Remember that you should put the age to be one more than what is in game (so if the HS age limit is 18 in OOTP, put 19 in OOTPOU).

Looks like you moved up the date, and the draft pool looks correct now.

And yes, I think the screwed up characters are a Vista-specific issue.

OOTPOU 3.1.1 is released! The big change is that the individual pitch ratings/talents are in the development utility (many thanks to Tony and Markus). Also, the HoF voting now displays the MVP/Cy Young/Gold Glove awards the player accumalted in his career. And of course, a few minor bug fixes here and there.

PLEASE NOTE! There are steps to upgrade properly so you don't get a whole assortment of bogus pitch rating/talent changes:

1. Before your next sim, unzip OOTPOUPatch.zip in the cgi-bin directory.
2. Go to OOTPOU/development and delete the file prevRatings.txt
3. Run the Development utility. This will regenerate prevRatings.txt but not display any new development
4. Now you're good to go. Run your sim as you normally would.

Make sure you fill out the parameters in the admin screen. Specifically, the Pythagorean Exponent and Seasons to Simulate. I suggest 1.83 and 100.

The error appears as if you did not fill the Seasons to Simulate value.
