Developing Prospects
Hi guys i am about to buy this game today and i am a big fan of scouting prospects and working them up to the majors. I just wanted to know if OOTPB does a good job at doing this? Also do your scouts have a big impact on who you draft? Thanks

Well you can scouts prospects with one of your up to 6 scouts and depending how good the scout is is how accurate the ratings are going to appear to you. The scouts don't decide who you draft, you do, they just give ratings and you have to choose which scout you trust the most to base those ratings off of. So yes, I believe OOTP does a good job with scouts and I always use them.

The player development algorithm, and it's taken a lot of work to get there, seems very realistic now. This does mean that you're in for your share of prospect busts and flameouts, but if your prepared for a realistic level of disappointment, I think you'll like it. Prospect development is a major component of the game, and you have features like the Baseball America top 100 prospects, BA top 10 prospects, complete and customizable minor leagues, amateur drafts, and international scouting all implemented. Scouting adds another dimension, one not all players like; if you turn scouts off, you can see players' true ratings (current and potential), so the influence scouts have depends on how you choose to play.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned feeder leagues, a new feature for 2007. If you like scouting prospects, you will love the ability to scout them from a very early age, watching them develop over the years and bringing actual stats with them to the amateur draft.
