A few newbie Qs
My Middle Relievers are better than my closer. Do I need to change position or just use them as the closer?
Also, I started a new league and did the inaugural draft and got only 1 1B. I got many 3B that have better defensive ratings at first base than third base. Why then is their position listed as 3B? How do I change this or will it change if I play them at 1B enough? |

No need to change the position of your MRs; I personally don't think the game should make the distinction. Give it a try though; you'll probably notice their overall and potential star rating go down, because now they're being compared against all the other closers in the league, and not all the other middle relievers. Stuff, Control and Movement will stay the same, of course.
Most middle infielders will be able to play a brilliant first base, defensively, if they gain some experience there. Then again, most middle infielders don't hit very well. The guys you drafted at 3b probably have acceptable range and great infield arms, so at least have some potential to develop into proper third basemen- and a 3B with, say, an .800 OPS is way more valuable than a 1B with the same. It's usually best to reserve first base for players who have miserable range, double play and arm ratings but outstanding offensive skills- it's the least demanding position to play, and this is the only way you'll get these kinds of guys into the lineup, unless you play with DH. With experience at a position, a player's rating at that position will increase; if you play your shortstop for a few months at first base, he should get very good at it. If a player is really bad in the ratings required for a position (arm for 3b, double play, error and range for 2b and SS, for example), then he'll never be able to get a rating- there are minimum thresholds, different for each position. And if you want to change a player's position, there's the 'Set Position To' button on the bottom of his player profile. Again, you may notice his overall and potential star rating change, since he's being compared to a different pool of players- a 5-star third baseman might only be a 2-star first baseman.
