Full Rosters?

OK i am just getting the hang of things. I used the Lahman Database (why more games don't do that is beyond me) to create a 2006 roster. However, i am super diasppointed in the minor league rosters. I only have like 10 minor leaguers scattered through 3 or 4 levels. Has anyone gotten further into this? I'd actually rather play with 2007 rosters, but Lahman seemed like the easiest way to go.

I might be able to take it if I just had Hunter Pence! :-D

Well, you do have the option to not require full minor league rosters, in which case "ghost" players are used. If you do want full minor league rosters, you also have the option of blocking any fictional players created to fill them out from ever reaching the major leagues. The game designers did this because they knew that "most historical databases do not have enough information about minor leaguers to fill all roster spots."

Yeah, the Laman database won't include minor leaguers, because, well, they're minor leaguers.

There is an opening-day 2006 roster set for OOTP2006 over at OOTP Mod Squad with more complete minors - you'll just need to import that into 2007.

So there isn't a 2007 set yet? Bummer. Can i import 2006 mods even if this years game is the first one i've ever seen?

There are a couple of beta 2007 roster sets (look in the mods forum), but they're certainly not done. And, yes, you should be able to import 2006 mods without having 2006.

There are two 2007 sets, but neither has complete minors. You'll find both stickied in the Rosters section of the forum. Two sets are being constructed with full minors, and both are apparently nearly ready. Be patient, though; it's an enormous amount of work the rostermakers are donating. You can see updates about both sets in the Rosters section of the forum.

Will be patient, thanks guys. As a big time Mod consumer on the games i play, i really appreciate the work of guys with more know-how than i have. Thanks for taking care of the regular gamers!

It will probably take me a while to figure out how to play anyway. 500 pages of manual (hell the Table of Contents is 22 pages!) is keeping me busy. Haven't read this much since college.
